Job Title: Laboratory Technologist

We are seeking a highly skilled Laboratory Technologist to join our team in the Plant Protection Division. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for processing specimens for the Washington Bee Atlas and assisting with data management.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Curate specimens associated with the Bee Atlas using professional standards
  • Organize and manage specimen collections
  • Perform data entry and management of specimen information
  • Assist with onboarding new volunteers and verifying paperwork completion
  • Oversee volunteer data, including iNaturalist usernames and records, contact information, and hours
  • Organize and oversee data related to events, including web registration and attendees
  • Oversee volunteer hours in PISCES
  • Attend training events and assist in training new volunteers
  • Use iOS devices and computers to communicate with and assist volunteers
  • Use handheld electronics to accurately report and document pollinator and pest species
Requirements:
  • High school education or equivalent
  • One year experience in a lab, survey, research, or environmental biology setting
  • Ability to acquire and maintain a valid driver's license
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in entomology, plant pathology, biology, botany, agronomy, or a closely allied field
  • Experience conducting scientific field work and data collection
  • Experience in collection and curating insect specimens
  • Data entry and management experience, primarily in Excel
  • Experience working with volunteers
