Job Summary

As a key member of the JL4 Staffing team, the Director of Nursing will oversee the facility's nursing program, ensuring compliance with the Nurse Practice Act, state and federal regulations, and company policies. This role requires a strong leader who can motivate and direct the nursing staff to deliver high-quality care.

Responsibilities
  • Rounds on units daily to monitor care and address concerns.
  • Performs general management functions, including hiring, disciplining, and evaluating employees.
  • Interviews and hires new nursing staff, ensuring they meet the necessary qualifications.
  • Plans and facilitates meetings and committees to address resident care issues.
  • Reviews time sheets for accuracy before payroll.
  • Develops and manages systems to ensure clinical competencies.
  • Participates in developing, implementing, and evaluating programs to promote recruitment, retention, development, and continuing education of nursing staff.
  • Identifies training needs and initiates studies to evaluate the effectiveness of nursing services.
  • Develops and manages the nurse-on-call system.
  • Develops the department budget for approval, monitors expenses, and stays within budget.
  • Investigates and resolves resident, family, and employee concerns.
  • Ensures annual competency evaluations and performance reviews are completed on time.
  • Participates in the Employee Recognition Program.
  • Proactively addresses survey and standards of care issues.
  • Develops and manages the staffing scheduler system.
  • Plans and guides the professional development of nursing staff.
  • Ensures adequate nursing staff are available based on facility and census requirements.
  • Collects data to compile reports in a timely manner and meets deadlines.
  • Participates in the facility's Performance Improvement Program.
  • Ensures all clinical protocols and nursing policies and procedures are followed.
  • Performs other tasks as assigned.
  • Ensures timely follow-up on pharmacy, dietary, and physician consults.
  • Assumes complete responsibility for the Center in the absence of the Administrator.
Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing, BSN preferred.
  • Valid RN license in the state employed.
  • Valid CPR certification.
  • Three years of experience as a Director of Nursing, Assistant Director of Nursing, or equivalent supervisory nursing experience.
Knowledge and Skills
  • Skilled in directing and motivating the workforce.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with residents and their family members and at all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to react decisively and quickly in emergency situations.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize.
  • Knowledge of training techniques for clinical staff.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Knowledge of the Nurse Practice Act, state and federal regulations, policies, and procedures regarding nursing standards and delivery of care.
