Job Title: DMV Clerk

At Nashville Nissan, we are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented DMV Clerk to join our team. As a DMV Clerk, you will be responsible for processing tag and title DMV work for new and used car deals, verifying costs for the accounting department, and handling the legal transfer of documents for the Department of Motor Vehicles.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Process all new and used vehicles for registration in the state in which they will be titled.
  • Prepare tax and title documents.
  • Submit all legal transfer work to the Department of Motor Vehicles.
  • Verify that funds have been collected and the correct lienholder paid off before processing title applications.
  • Check for accuracy in the application and ensure that all information is complete.
  • Prepare checks for registration of new and used vehicles and customer refunds.
  • Maintain a system to verify out-of-state titles.
  • Compile and maintain a complete list of all outstanding title work. Report to management on the status of any missing or problem titles and provide a current list of outstanding titles to the comptroller at the end of month.
  • Sign over titles for all wholesalers who have paid in full. Prepare a monthly report to management of any funds not collected from wholesalers due to missing or incomplete title work.
  • Process yearly renewal of dealer tags in conjunction with comptroller.
  • Stay abreast of title regulations. Attend seminars held by local licensing bureaus and any available training on title regulations.
  • Cross-train others to handle title clerk daily responsibilities.
  • Conduct periodic training sessions for F&I managers and sales personnel regarding title regulations and procedures and issue a written memo to managers and all sales personnel whenever regulations change.
  • Direct title runner in daily routines.
