Position Overview:

Knovva Academy is in search of a Full-time Academic Admissions Advisor. The Academic Admissions division of Knovva Academy provides personalized, comprehensive college application services, delivering tailored school planning solutions for students and their families.

In this role, our Advisors assist students in exploring their educational and career pathways. They guide students in evaluating their priorities for their educational experiences, support them in researching options, and ensure they complete all necessary steps in the college application journey.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Consultations: Conducts one-on-one private meetings with each student, which will continue throughout the application process.
  • School Selection: Aids in matching students with suitable colleges by leveraging extensive knowledge of both international and U.S. institutions, utilizing data-driven metrics.
  • Essay Support: Engages in one-on-one sessions with each student, involving multiple rounds of drafting and editing until all essays are ready for submission.
  • Interview Preparation: Facilitates mock interviews and discusses various interviewing techniques and strategies.
  • Personal Planning: Assists families in mapping out the application year, including meeting deadlines for standardized tests, college application due dates, and creating accounts on relevant portals.
  • Flexible Hours: Must be available to work flexible hours to accommodate students across different time zones.
  • Executive Functioning: Develops strategies to help students achieve their academic goals, including GPA management and maintaining clear communication among students, parents, and counselors.
  • Liaison Role: Acts as a bridge between families, students, and educational institutions, requiring a solid understanding of U.S. school operations and hierarchies.
  • International Familiarity: Must possess knowledge of international students and colleges.
  • Strategic Guidance: Aids students in understanding the strategies necessary for success in academics, standardized testing, and the admissions process.

Qualifications:

  • B.A. or M.Ed. in Education or a related field from an accredited institution.
  • Experience with the college counseling process and the requirements for admission to top-tier schools.
  • Ability to assist students in crafting compelling essays through technical writing or subject area expertise.
  • Experience in teaching writing or closely working with editing student essays is essential.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience in an international and multicultural environment.
  • Extensive background in the college admission process or attendance at a prestigious college or university with rigorous admissions standards.
  • Candidate must be located in the Boston/Massachusetts area and willing to work in a hybrid model.
  • Experience with international students is preferred.
  • Experience with elite colleges and high schools (as a student and/or educator) is preferred.
  • Professional membership in NACAC and/or IECA is a plus.
  • Experience with the admissions process for U.S. boarding schools is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with College Planner Pro software is a plus.

The Academic Admissions Advisor position is full-time. Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience. Some travel may be required. Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States; sponsorship is not available at this time.
