Job Summary

As an Aircraft Painter at Professional Aircraft Accessories, you will be responsible for operating and maintaining painting equipment to paint aircraft parts to specification. This role requires strong attention to detail and the ability to work accurately and thoroughly.

Key Responsibilities
  • Follow standard operating procedures when using tools and equipment such as dual action sanders, hydraulic lift platforms, and paint sprayers.
  • Comply with safety rules and procedures and be alert for unsafe conditions.
  • Safely perform preparation, painting, and detailing under minimal supervision.
  • Coordinate with supervision and inspection to ensure compliance with internal and FAA paperwork, sign-offs, and quality inspection.
  • Mix paints to manual specifications, then stir and thin the paints, using spatulas or power mixing equipment.
  • Remove grease, dirt, paint, or rust from surfaces in preparation for paint application using abrasives, solvents, brushes, or sandblasters.
  • Monitor painting operations to identify flaws, such as blisters or streaks, and correct their causes.
  • Disassemble, clean, and reassemble sprayers and power equipment using solvents, wire brushes, and cloths for cleaning duties.
  • Set up portable equipment, such as ventilators or exhaust units.
  • Sand surfaces between coats of paint or primer to remove flaws and enhance adhesion for subsequent coats.
  • Dispose of hazardous waste in an appropriate manner.
  • Properly care for and maintain shop equipment and tools.

Requirements
  • High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED): Required
  • 2 plus years of experience in related paint processes.
  • Experience in the aircraft industry is preferred.
  • Advanced knowledge of paint processes and products is necessary.
  • Must be able to properly use, handle, and dispose of hazardous materials per government regulations and company procedures.
