About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Medical Oncology Advanced Practice Provider to join our team at Duke University Hospital. As a key member of our inpatient medical oncology unit, you will provide direct patient care and work collaboratively with attending physicians and other medical professionals to deliver exceptional patient outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collect and document patient data, ordering diagnostic and therapeutic procedures as needed.
  • Formulate treatment plans with critical thinking skills and high-level clinical judgment, including prescribing medications.
  • Chart patient progress and maintain accurate health records.
  • Participate in clinical research projects and contribute to the documentation of toxicities and data collection.
  • Communicate effectively with multi-disciplinary teams to support patient care.
  • Collaborate with supervising physicians, APP colleagues, and team members to provide comprehensive patient care.
  • Participate in education and training of patients, family members, new staff, and students.
  • Attend program-required meetings and maintain up-to-date clinical and professional knowledge.
Requirements
  • NP: Graduate of accredited MSN or DNP Nurse Practitioner Program for adult care.
  • PA: Graduate of ARC accredited Master's Degree or Doctoral Degree Physician Assistant Program.
  • NP: Any NP certification that treats adults (FNP, ANP, AGNP, AGACNP, etc.).
  • PA: PA-C.
  • NP: Unrestricted RN licensure issued by or recognized by the NCBON with authorization to practice as a NP.
  • PA: Unrestricted medical license issued by NCMB with authorization to practice as PA.
  • Both: Federal and State DEA independent license with prescriptive authority.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working in a team-oriented inpatient unit.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Competence with technology.
  • Desire and willingness to continue learning.
Work Schedule

Monday through Sunday, including weekends and holidays, 12-hour day shift, 7A-7P. 13 shifts per 28 days.
