About Dexterity

Dexterity is a robotics company that believes robots can positively transform the world. Our breakthrough technology frees people to do the creative, inspiring, problem-solving jobs that humans do best by enabling robots to handle repetitive and physically difficult work.

We're starting with warehouse automation, where the need for smarter, more resilient supply chains impacts millions of lives and businesses around the world.

Dexterity's full-stack robotics systems pick, move, pack, and collaborate with human-like skill, awareness, and learning capabilities. Our systems are software-driven, hardware-agnostic, and have already picked over 15 million goods in production.

We're a diverse and multidisciplinary team with a culture built on passion, trust, and dedication. We're committed to empowering our customers with robots to do more than they thought was possible.

About the Role

We're seeking a highly experienced Manufacturing Engineer to join our team. As a Manufacturing Engineer, you will be responsible for the architecture and optimization of CAD, product lifecycle management, product data management, and bill of materials processes and systems.

You will play a crucial role in connecting hardware design and manufacturing processes, ensuring a seamless transition for our products to production. This role requires a combination of technical expertise and mentorship, project management skills, and cross-functional collaboration.

Responsibilities
  1. Support the development and/or assessment of current strategies for managing product data throughout its lifecycle, from creation to retirement, and accurate bill of materials (BOM) for identified products.
  2. Partner with internal Dexterity engineering teams to establish and/or update new engineering standards, drawing and data standards, naming conventions, and classification systems to ensure consistency and accuracy.
  3. Support, when identified, the configuration of product data management, product lifecycle management, and ERP software systems integration, including 3D models, 2D drawings, part numbering, BOM, Electrical schematics, and documentation.
  4. Provide input and feedback on Obsolescence Management including forecasting, engineering solutions, last time buy management, and coordination with supply chain and field support engineers.
  5. Support the management of Product Build Documentation including Operations Methods Sheet (OMS) creation and redlines.
  6. Engage with design engineers and Product Management early in the development of a new product to drive continuous improvement and to prepare for manufacturing.
  7. Evaluate new designs to infuse DfX opportunities and find potential fit/alignment or other issues.
  8. Contribute to the completion of mechanical and electrical designs.
  9. Transform new designs (EBOM) into an MBOM (kits/assemblies) for volume manufacturing that supports how it will be marketed, manufactured, and shipped.
Desired Experience

We're looking for a Manufacturing Engineer with a Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, industrial engineering, or a related field. You should have 10+ years of hands-on experience as a Manufacturing and/or NPI engineer leading complex products from engineering design to volume production.

You should have proven experience in the integration and management of Product Data Management (PDM) and Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems. Prior hands-on and in-depth knowledge of PDM/BOM principles, methodologies, and best practices is a must.

Deep understanding of manufacturing processes, including machining, casting, and assembly methods, is required. Experience with NPI processes, including design for manufacturability (DFM) and design for assembly (DFA) principles, is also necessary.

You should have strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documents. Effective interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with cross-functional teams at all levels of the organization, are essential.

Ability to multi-task and switch contexts while managing multiple projects simultaneously is a must. Continuous improvement oriented mindset with a focus on accuracy and data integrity is also required.

The annual base salary range for this position is from $155,000 to $175,000. The actual base pay offered will be determined on factors such as years of relevant experience, skills, education etc. Decisions will be determined on a case-by-case basis
