Job Overview

General Summary

The Electrician is responsible for executing a range of electrical tasks, including the installation, upkeep, and repair of systems that generate, distribute, or utilize electrical energy.

Key Responsibilities

  • Replace and maintain electrical components such as receptacles, wiring, switches, fixtures, and motors.
  • Install and repair various electrical systems, including generators, transformers, automatic transfer switches, switchboards, controllers, circuit breakers, disconnects, motors, heating units, conduit systems, variable frequency drives, uninterruptible power supplies, and motor control centers.
  • Interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to execute tasks effectively.
  • Identify and troubleshoot issues within electrical systems or equipment.
  • Perform calculations related to load requirements for wiring and electrical devices.
  • Utilize a range of electrician's hand tools and testing instruments.
  • Conduct maintenance and service activities to support ongoing operations, responding to work requests or management directives.
  • Carry out preventive maintenance on assigned electrical distribution systems and document necessary corrective actions.
  • Ensure the functionality of Life Safety Systems.
  • Communicate with stakeholders regarding the status of work requests and coordination efforts.
  • Document work performed with detailed notes.
  • Be available for emergency response, including nights and weekends.
  • Perform additional duties as required.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Possession of a Journeyman or Master Electrician License is mandatory.
  • Thermography Level 1 or 2 Certification is preferred.
  • OSHA 10 Certification is preferred.
  • Knowledge of Arc Flash NFPA 70E standards is preferred.
  • A GED or High School Diploma is required.
  • Experience in both indoor and outdoor work environments is essential.
  • Ability to comprehend verbal and written instructions from supervisors or other skilled tradespeople.

Work Environment

  • Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs, bend, stoop, kneel, and climb ladders as necessary.
  • Occasional exposure to environmental factors such as heat, cold, noise, dust, and chemicals, with minor safety risks.
  • Must successfully pass a background check and obtain security clearance post-hire.
