Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Registered Nurse to join our Geropsychiatric Unit at Elliot Health. As a Geriatric Psychiatric Nurse, you will play a critical role in delivering high-quality care to patients with complex psychiatric and medical needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients with geriatric psychiatric conditions, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary treatment team to develop and implement individualized care plans that address the physical, emotional, and social needs of patients.
- Conduct thorough assessments of patients' medical and psychiatric conditions, identifying areas for improvement and developing strategies to enhance patient outcomes.
- Develop and maintain a safe and therapeutic environment for patients and families, promoting a culture of respect, empathy, and compassion.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members to ensure seamless care and coordination.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to the development of policies and procedures that promote best practices in geriatric psychiatric nursing.
Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing (ASN or BSN – BSN preferred)
- Current New Hampshire, compact, or multistate licensure as Registered Nurse required
- Ability to obtain BLS qualification during orientation period and maintain during employment – ACLS preferred
