Job Overview

OBJECTIVE AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

A Vertical Machinist is integral to the production operations within the organization. The primary duty is to manufacture components according to precise specifications that will ultimately facilitate the assembly of aerospace latches for customer delivery.

CORE FUNCTIONS

  1. Set up and operate Vertical Milling machines (3 to 4 axes) in a manufacturing setting to create parts that adhere to specifications outlined in blueprints, dimensional data sheets, and work order documentation.
  2. Review the daily schedule (Dispatch List) to confirm the jobs that need to be executed for the day.
  3. Inspect, maintain, lubricate, and clean production machinery and equipment.
  4. Initiate setups and modify tooling in accordance with CNC programming to fulfill required specifications.
  5. Load components for machining and conduct periodic quality assessments to ensure compliance with specifications and planning documents.
  6. Examine and verify own parts for quality, ensuring they meet the correct specifications as per blueprints and dimensional data sheets.
  7. Operate with minimal supervision.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  1. High school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) equivalent; and
  2. 3 to 6 years of practical machine shop experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

ADDITIONAL SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
  2. Proficient in using basic measuring tools (Micrometers, Calipers, Height Gauges, etc.).
  3. Programming knowledge is preferred but not mandatory.
  4. Capable of following verbal and/or written instructions in English.

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  1. Work is performed in a factory setting with exposure to dirt, heat, grit, sparks, noise, fumes, and dust.
  2. Requires excellent hand/eye coordination and high manual dexterity.
  3. Responsibilities necessitate specific physical capabilities, including standing, walking, bending, crouching, pushing, pulling, repetitive foot control, frequent use of hands, grasping, fine motor skills, and occasional lifting of materials up to 50 pounds.
