Postdoctoral Associate in Energy Transition and Community Development

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Associate to join our team at the University of Pittsburgh. The successful candidate will work on a research project investigating the diversification of economic opportunity in Pennsylvania communities with fossil-fuel-based economies.

Responsibilities:
  • Conduct in-person field research, including focus groups and interviews, in Pennsylvania and potentially Ohio and West Virginia.
  • Design and implement surveys of stakeholder groups to address research questions.
  • Engage and extend the research team's existing relationships with regional stakeholders.
  • Analyze data collected via surveys, interviews, and focus groups, as well as additional quantitative data derived from secondary sources.
  • Write papers for academic publications and reports.
Qualifications:
  • Ph.D. in a relevant field, near completion.
  • Experience conducting interviews and focus groups, designing and implementing large surveys, analyzing qualitative and quantitative data, and working with quantitative software (e.g., Stata or R), qualitative software (e.g., NVivo or ), and survey software (e.g., Qualtrics).
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong commitment to undertaking field research.
What We Offer:
  • Salary: $60,000 per year in the first year, with an opportunity for an increase in year 2 (likely 3%).

  • The opportunity to work directly with Prof. Shanti Gamper-Rabindran and collaborate with the Energy Transition team.
