Job Title: Scientist I

Orion Group is seeking a highly motivated Scientist to work with our global pharmaceutical client in South San Francisco, CA.

Job Summary:

We are looking for a skilled Scientist to support the development and implementation of single cell-based flow cytometric (FCM) assays that enable development of novel therapies from the bench to the clinic.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work as part of a highly collaborative interdisciplinary team in an integrated early drug development laboratory.
  • Work with different bioanalytical matrices to support FCM assay development.
  • Conduct laboratory experiments to characterize and optimize flow cytometric assays.
  • Execute existing pharmacodynamic assays using established SOPs to support early stage immune-oncology and immunology R&D projects in a detail-oriented approach.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent education with typically 2-3 years of experience, or Master's Degree or equivalent education with typically 1-2 years of experience.
  • Experience with mammalian cell culture and/or isolating primary cells.
  • Strong communication skills - verbal, written, and scientific data presentation.
  • Ability to multitask and highly attentive to detail.
  • Ability to learn, understand, and execute new scientific techniques.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office software, including excel and word; ability to learn new software applications.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strongly preference towards candidate with 2+ years of flow cytometry experience; experience with various BD instruments (i.e. Fortessa, Symphony) is highly desirable.
  • Experienced with various flow cytometric analysis software including DIVA, FlowJo, FCS express, and GraphPad is highly desirable.
