Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist surgeons and anesthesiologists during surgical procedures, maintaining a safe and sterile environment.
  • Prepare and maintain surgical equipment, instruments, and supplies, ensuring they are in good working order.
  • Transport patients, equipment, and supplies throughout the medical center, utilizing proper body mechanics.
  • Participate in departmental performance improvement activities, identifying areas for improvement and implementing changes to enhance patient care and efficiency.
  • Collaborate with the Registered Nurse to prioritize work assignments, ensuring timely completion of patient care activities.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members, providing clear and concise information about patient care and procedures.
Requirements:
  • One year of experience in an operating room setting, including scrubbing or equivalent military experience.
  • Graduate of an approved surgical technologist or military equivalent program.
  • National Center for Competency Testing Certificate - Technologist in Surgery or Surgical Technologist Certificate from National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting.
  • Basic Life Support certification.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bilingual Spanish language skills.
  • Ability to float to other areas within the scope of competency.
  • Willingness to be trained on computer systems.
