Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Equipment Operator to join our team at the Solid Waste Disposal Authority of Baldwin Co AL. As an Equipment Operator, you will be responsible for operating a variety of heavy equipment, including landfill compactors, bulldozers, and dump trucks, to ensure the safe and efficient operation of our landfill facilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate heavy equipment under close supervision to ensure safe and efficient operation
  • Perform routine maintenance and inspections on equipment to prevent mechanical failures
  • Monitor equipment gauges and indicators to identify potential issues
  • Notify supervisors of any mechanical or safety problems
  • Assist with mechanical failure repairs as needed
  • Perform manual labor tasks as required to maintain landfill operations
Requirements
  • Valid Driver's License and insurability by insurance standards
  • Class B CDL preferred
  • Ability to work overtime and weekends as needed
  • Physical ability to perform tasks that require standing, walking, bending, and lifting
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with exposure to extreme temperatures, dust, and noise
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience operating a variety of heavy equipment, including landfill compactors, bulldozers, and dump trucks
  • Knowledge of safety rules and regulations
  • Ability to communicate effectively with supervisors and coworkers
Working Conditions

This position requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment with exposure to extreme temperatures, dust, and noise. The employee must be able to stand for long periods, walk, bend, and lift heavy objects. The employee must also be able to work in a team environment and communicate effectively with supervisors and coworkers.
