Position Overview:
The Mobile Health Units at Wayne Health Services Inc embody the future of healthcare delivery, ensuring access to services where individuals live and work, ultimately aiming to enhance community health outcomes. The Immunization Program Coordinator will deliver professional care to patients in accordance with established policies and procedures, while also supporting the Vaccine Manager with inventory management, documentation, and registry assistance.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage and update the vaccine inventory for the Mobile Health Unit under the guidance of the Vaccine Manager.
  • Assist with administrative duties related to the Michigan Care Improvement Registry (MCIR) to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations, including conducting internal audits.
  • Oversee the daily operations of the Vaccine for Children (VFC) Program, maintaining current knowledge of standard operating procedures for vaccine management.
  • Lead the Immunization Care Team, taking responsibility for vaccine administration and patient monitoring.
  • Administer vaccines and provide post-vaccination care at Mobile Unit locations.
  • Ensure accurate documentation of patient interactions, including education, allergy screenings, and coordination of health services.
  • Conduct internal audits within the Electronic Health Record (EHR) system to verify adherence to protocols and provide staff training as necessary.
  • Stay informed on vaccine guidelines from the CDC, MDHHS, and ACIP, communicating updates to staff and assisting with training.
  • Complete all mandatory training to ensure compliance with departmental and regulatory standards.
  • Monitor and maintain temperature logs for all Mobile Health Unit sites, responding appropriately to any temperature excursions.
  • Perform diagnostic testing as required by the Mobile Health Unit.
  • Handle patient intake and registration processes in the EHR, both before events and at vaccination sites.
  • Manage revenue cycle tasks, including verifying patient insurance eligibility.
  • Administer the Social Determinants of Health (SDOH) Questionnaire.
  • Maintain emergency medical kits, ensuring timely replacement of expired medications.
  • Perform additional duties as needed to support departmental operations.
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 1-2 years of experience in a healthcare setting is required.
  • LPN or RN licensure is mandatory.
  • Experience with Mobile Health Units is preferred.
  • 1-2 years of experience in pediatric healthcare is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with vaccine management and MCIR is preferred.
  • A valid Driver's License is required.
Skills and Competencies:
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and judgment capabilities.
  • Proficient in using computer systems and software.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding sensitive information.
  • Experience in inventory management within a healthcare context.
  • Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Willingness to work in various outdoor conditions as per departmental policies.
  • Flexibility to travel to different Mobile Health Unit locations as needed.
  • Adaptability to changes in job responsibilities and requirements.
  • Physical capability to lift and move equipment weighing up to 40 lbs.

Work Environment:
  • This position involves a 40-hour workweek, with specific hours and days determined by departmental needs, including potential weekend shifts.
