Salary Ranges for Graduate Engineers:
Graduate Engineer I : $62,462 - $78,077
Graduate Engineer II : $66,834 - $83,544
Under the guidance of the Engineering Operations Manager, the Graduate Engineer I / II engages in engineering tasks associated with the assessment, investigation, development, review, operation, maintenance, and design of both existing and proposed water and wastewater systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Examine plans and specifications submitted by engineers for both public and private initiatives to ensure compliance with municipal development codes and regulations, or conduct analytical evaluations on the current wastewater collection system to identify and mitigate sources of rainfall-dependent inflow and infiltration (as assigned).
- Collaborate with the Planning and Development Services Department regarding new developments, growth, Master Plans, subdivisions, site plans, etc. Participate in Pre-Application Conferences for development projects. Identify opportunities for oversized participation and contribute to the formulation of development agreements.
- Conduct engineering research, prepare technical reports, attend meetings, and deliver presentations as required. Analyze modeling computations for accuracy and prepare time and material estimates.
- Consult with and advise construction project inspectors and perform inspections during project execution. Participate in decision-making regarding necessary field modifications.
- Engage in special projects and reports as needed.
- Perform additional related duties as assigned.
Required:
Graduate Engineer I
Bachelor's Degree in civil engineering. Valid Texas Driver's License. Texas Engineer in Training (EIT) certification is preferred.
Graduate Engineer II
Bachelor's Degree in civil engineering with two (2) to four (4) years of relevant civil engineering experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Valid Texas Driver License. Texas Engineer in Training (EIT) certification, or the ability to obtain it by reciprocity within six (6) months of hire.
Preferred:
Experience in municipal government. Familiarity with industry-standard software (EPANET, EPASWMM, Innovyze InfoWater, Innovyze InfoSewer, AutoCAD, etc.). Management or supervisory experience. Public speaking skills.
