Class A Driver

As a valued member of our team at A&A Concrete Supply, you will be responsible for collecting and transporting aggregate materials such as rock and sand to our plants as directed. This role requires full compliance with company policies and procedures, as well as federal, state, and local government laws and regulations.
Key Responsibilities- Check plant telephone recordings to determine work assignments and reporting times on a daily basis.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip vehicle operational and safety checks daily.
- Enter work locations into GPS to ensure the most accurate and time-effective routes.
- Drive to assigned quarries to pick up aggregate materials as required.
- Pull up next to ground storage to load vehicles, and to scale houses to sign load tickets.
- Visually inspect trailers to ensure the correct levels of aggregates have been loaded.
- Deliver assigned loads of aggregates to designated company plants.
- Operate valves to offload aggregates at assigned plants.
- Comply with instructions provided by customers' yards or other personnel.
- Collect and return to the plant any documentation on materials received and delivered.
- Repeat the loading and offloading process as required, subject to assigned work schedules.
- Enter trips, starting and ending times, and meal breaks taken on drivers' logs.
- Comply with state and federal vehicle codes and regulations, as well as safety regulations.
- Communicate with personnel on any issues via cell phone.
- Report job-related accidents and/or injuries to designated plant and corporate personnel.
- Wash assigned vehicles at designated plant locations.
- Promptly report any vehicle malfunctions from a safety and operational standpoint.
- Maintain accurate work and driving records.
- Maintain a clean vehicle, cleaning it while on duty and on company time.
- Attend safety and other training meetings as required.
- Adapt to changes in the work environment, accept criticism and feedback, and take responsibility for own actions.
- Schedule time off in advance, begin working on time, keep absences within guidelines, and arrive to work assignments on time.
- Express ideas and thoughts both verbally and in written form, exhibit good listening skills and comprehension, respond well to questions, write clearly and informatively, and present accurate numerical data effectively.

- Within specified functional areas of authority, be personally accountable to understand and ensure regulatory and policy compliance with state and federal driving and safety requirements in accordance with job duties and responsibilities.
- Attend required safety meetings, follow the Injury and Illness Prevention Plan (IIPP), and report unsafe conditions.
- Operate and maintain a clean, functional vehicle, and meet daily deadlines.
- Register through the federal Clearinghouse to move through the hiring process.
- California Class A license with doubles/triples endorsements.
- The ability to undergo and complete our company's driver training program.
- The ability to drive a manual 10-speed transmission truck.
- Experience as a Class A driver is preferred but not required.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Must be able to read, write, and speak English.
Mathematical SkillsAbility to add and subtract, as well as multiply and divide. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
Reasoning AbilityUses critical thinking skills to interpret information furnished in written, oral, or schedule form. Makes sound decisions based on available information and evaluates situations and requirements to plan and adjust work accordingly.
Certificates/Licenses/Registrations- California Class A permit with doubles/triples endorsements.
- Candidate cannot have any DUI/DWI convictions within the past 5 years.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to sit for extended periods of time.
- The employee frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms.
- The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, talk, or hear.
- The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
- Individual must be able to pass a pre-employment physical and drug screen.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, hazardous chemicals, outside weather conditions, and vibration.
- The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, high, precarious places, fumes or airborne particles, extreme heat, and risk of electrical shock and elevated noise levels.
- Employee must wear required personal protective equipment, up to and including safety vests, hard hats, ear protection, gloves, and safety glasses.
