Aircraft Mechanic I Job Description

Job Title: Aircraft Mechanic I (CH-53 Flight Line)
Location: VMX-1 Yuma, AZ

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Aircraft Mechanic I to join our team at Kay and Associates, Inc. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing maintenance and repairs on CH-53 aircraft, ensuring they are in safe operating condition.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on CH-53 aircraft, including inspections, disassembly, and reassembly of components
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot malfunctions in aircraft systems, including hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems
  • Repair and replace worn or damaged components, including engines, sheet metal, and structural components
  • Use hand tools, power tools, and specialized equipment to perform maintenance and repairs
  • Read and interpret technical manuals, service bulletins, and engineering data to determine feasibility and method of repairing or replacing malfunctioning or damaged components
  • Enter maintenance records and verify work performed
  • Support equipment operation and inspections
  • Perform shift work and/or overtime as required
Requirements
  • Two or more years' rotary wing aircraft maintenance experience
  • Ability to work shift maintenance as required
  • Ability to work flexible work-week schedules as required
  • Ability to climb ladders, raised platforms, and work on top of and below aircraft
  • Ability to use hand and power tools
  • Ability to handle small parts
  • Ability to deploy to support off-station exercises and perform other support duties as assigned
  • Must satisfactorily complete a National Agency Check Local Records Check and Credit (NACLC) or Access National Agency Check
  • Must be eligible for Common Access Card (CAC)
Preferred Qualifications
  • Five or more years rotary wing maintenance experience
  • Previously certified Collateral Duty Inspector (CDI) for Line and/or Power Plants
  • Completed NATEC Course Automated Track and Balancing System (ATABS)
  • Basic Corrosion Control
  • Previously certified Hydraulic Contamination
  • C-53 Plane Captain
Benefits

Employees receive a health and welfare benefit of $7.00 per hour paid up to 40 hours per week. Employees are offered medical, dental, vision, and basic life insurance. Employees are able to enroll in KAI's 401k plan. Employees accrue 5.52 hours of PTO per pay period. KAI employees at Yuma VMX-1 have 12 paid holidays.
