Job Summary

The Lake Erie College Of Osteopathic Medicine is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Housekeeping Floor Specialist to join our custodial team. As a key member of our facilities team, you will be responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and healthy environment for our students, faculty, and staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Strip, clean, and buff floors to a high standard, ensuring a safe and healthy environment for all users.
  • Operate and maintain a range of cleaning equipment, including buffers, vacuums, and mops, in accordance with manufacturer instructions and safety protocols.
  • Clean and sanitize restrooms, including sinks, toilets, and showers, using established cleaning procedures and protocols.
  • Empty and clean wastebaskets and trash containers, and refill restroom dispensers as needed.
  • Check and change light bulbs, and keep light fixtures clean, as required.
  • Perform duties in and around campus facilities, including setup and takedown for events, and work closely with employees and the public to meet custodial needs.
  • Lock and unlock assigned buildings, and secure buildings when not in use, checking for unlocked doors and reporting any unauthorized occupants.
  • Follow instructions regarding the use of cleaning materials and supplies, and adhere to OSHA and Institutional Safety Protocols.
  • Move furniture, equipment, supplies, and tools as needed, and handle trash and recycling materials in accordance with proper disposal procedures.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent preferred.
  • One (1) year of custodial experience, with housekeeping in a school setting and knowledge of cleaning products and floor, carpet cleaning equipment preferred.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment, and to communicate effectively with colleagues and the public.
  • Knowledge of various methods of maintaining, cleaning, and preserving a range of surfaces, and the ability to use a wide range of chemicals according to state and federal regulations.
  • Ability to work with individuals at all levels in the organization, and to maintain confidentiality of work-related information and materials.
  • Flexibility to accept other duties needed or assigned for the department's needs, and ability to work cooperatively and collegially with others.
Working Conditions

This is a full-time, third shift position, Monday through Friday, 11:00 PM - 7:30 AM. The successful candidate will be required to work in a fast-paced environment, and to be able to lift, carry, and move heavy equipment and supplies as needed.
