Job Description

As a Design Engineer II, Burn-In, you will play a key role in ensuring that all products meet customer and company quality requirements for sales growth and profitability.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design new products and redesign existing products of moderate complexity to meet customer needs and specifications
  • Provide technical support to internal departments and select customers
  • Review drawings and documentation for compliance with project specifications and company policies and procedures
  • Issue Engineering Change Release Notifications (ECNs)
  • Perform, create, and update product design guidelines, customer standards, and analytical reports as assigned
  • Investigate and suggest solutions to the Engineering Manager regarding product-related problems
  • Comply with and participate in all Smiths Interconnect's EHS programs, policies, procedures, and training requirements
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Work with a flexible schedule
  • Up to 20% travel may be required
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering required, with an emphasis in Mechanical Design preferred; 2+ years of related experience
  • Knowledge of engineering mechanics, physics, and manufacturing methods
  • Experience with SolidWorks 3D modeling software or equivalent
  • Understanding of GD&T, ANSI/ASME standards
  • Experience with Finite Element Analysis (structural, thermal & fluid) preferred
  • Ability to make sound decisions and accurate judgments
  • Ability to follow and provide detailed written or verbal instructions and communicate effectively
  • Strong interpersonal skills, balances team and individual responsibilities
  • Attention to detail/self-directed and able to work under normal supervision
  • May involve high stress situations and the ability to balance multiple priorities at a time
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office products
  • Oral and written communication skills in English
  • US citizen or permanent resident is required (ITAR compliance) for US sites
