POSITION OVERVIEW

The Senior Accountant plays a pivotal role within the Accounting Department, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial data. This position involves the management and reconciliation of the general ledger, along with the preparation and analysis of financial statements. Key responsibilities include reconciling asset and liability accounts and developing the necessary documentation for the annual review process.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Conduct monthly analysis and reconciliation of balance sheet accounts.
  • Oversee the reconciliation of Trust Bank Accounts and associated general ledger accounts.
  • Lead the month-end closing activities.
  • Maintain various data tables and generate necessary reports.
  • Prepare monthly journal entries.
  • Provide timely and accurate support to both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Perform ad hoc analyses and review accounts and expenditures as needed.
  • Compile various census and informational reports as required.
  • Uphold strict confidentiality to protect sensitive information.
  • Develop work-paper files and supporting documents for the annual review.
  • Prepare reconciliations to verify all asset and liability balances.
  • Assist in coordinating the annual review process.
  • Contribute to special projects and other assigned tasks.
WORKING HOURS: Exempt, Monday - Friday

WORKING ARRANGEMENT: Hybrid - required to work in the office two days per week.

QUALIFICATIONS

To excel in this role, candidates must demonstrate the ability to perform essential functions effectively, with or without reasonable accommodations. The qualifications include:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • A minimum of four years of post-graduate experience in public accounting or five years in private sector accounting.
  • Desire to pursue CPA certification is preferred.
  • Hybrid work arrangement requires presence in the office two days per week.
SKILLS & ABILITIES
  • Strong proficiency in computer skills, particularly in Excel.
  • Experience with Microsoft Great Plains accounting software is advantageous.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Commitment to high professional and ethical standards.
  • Effective time management and multitasking abilities.
  • Adaptability to change and a dynamic work environment.
  • Strong intermediate accounting and mathematical skills.
LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY
  • Ability to engage in conversations and respond to inquiries from senior management and internal customers.
  • Proficient in writing business-related documents such as letters and emails.
REASONING ABILITY
  • Capable of identifying problems, gathering data, establishing facts, and drawing valid conclusions.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

The physical demands of this role require the employee to sit, talk, see, and hear regularly. Frequent use of hands for typing and operating office equipment is necessary. Occasional standing, walking, and lifting up to 20 pounds may be required.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The employee operates in a temperature-controlled office setting, engaging in standard office activities such as answering calls, typing, and reading information from various sources.
