Role Overview

Oversee the safe, efficient, and environmentally responsible operation of the 600 MW State Line Power Station, ensuring it serves as a reliable energy source for the Southwest Power Pool. This role is crucial in enhancing shareholder value while minimizing the impact on Liberty's financial performance. You will be instrumental in the operation and maintenance of the plant, acquiring comprehensive knowledge of all operational and maintenance aspects. This position involves project development, implementation, and management, alongside providing support during plant outages.

Key Responsibilities

Engage in plant initiatives aimed at achieving Liberty's Triple Zero safety target by:

  • Participating in weekly safety meetings and supporting plant safety protocols.
  • Conducting Safety Observations to ensure adherence to safety plans.
  • Contributing to both short- and long-term safety improvement strategies.
  • Leading components of a multi-year safety training program as assigned.

Develop a thorough understanding of plant operations, including:

  • Operational systems and equipment integration.
  • Maintenance processes and procedures.

Participate in various training programs, including On-the-Job Training and Energy Supply Operator Training, while collaborating with experienced personnel and management. Continue professional development beyond these programs, supporting plant operations and maintenance, including weekend assistance as needed.

Be available for 24/7 operational and maintenance support, contributing to the O&M budget, and assisting with equipment and parts procurement as directed.

Manage projects with budgets under $50,000, which entails:

  • Creating work packages and bid documents.
  • Scheduling and evaluating bids.
  • Awarding contracts and overseeing all contract aspects, including budget and timeline.

Assist in the development of the Capital Budget and support outage planning and execution. Manage 3 to 5 outage tasks with a crew of 3 to 5 personnel, lasting 2 to 4 days, while also aiding in larger outage projects involving contractors and self-performed work.

Acquire foundational skills in systems that support plant operations and maintenance, including but not limited to:

  • Plant Distributed Control System
  • Maintenance Management System
  • Continuous Emissions Monitoring System
  • Corporate Financial Management System
Qualifications

Possess a broad understanding of professional principles and practices, along with advanced knowledge of specific technical or operational methodologies.

A Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field is required, with a preference for Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution. Mechanical or Chemical Engineering degrees from an ABET-accredited college are also acceptable based on experience.

Experience: 1 to 3 years in power plant operations is preferred.
