Job Summary:

Atrium Health is seeking a skilled Diagnostic Medical Imaging Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our radiology services team, you will be responsible for coordinating and performing ultrasound exams, prioritizing patient care, and ensuring the highest level of technical quality.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Exam Coordination: Prioritize and coordinate ultrasound exams with nursing units, radiologists, and referring physicians to ensure efficient and effective patient care.
  • Ultrasound Exams: Perform ultrasound exams in accordance with departmental protocols and standards, providing adequate patient care and operating ultrasound and associated equipment with proficiency.
  • Technical Quality: Evaluate the technical quality of exams and develop superior techniques to elevate efficiency in the department.
  • Patient Care: Support and contribute to the Patient-Centered Care Philosophy by understanding that every staff member is a caregiver, whose role is to meet the needs of each patient.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Report malfunctioning equipment to the Assistant Director, Lead Sonographer, and/or Engineer to ensure seamless operations.
  • Computer Operations: Operate the Radiology computer system to enter and charge exams and supplies, ensuring accurate and efficient record-keeping.

Requirements:

  • Certifications: Certified by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers or American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (S) required.
  • Education: Graduate of a comprehensive medical diagnostic ultrasound program preferred.
  • Skills: Motor coordination needed to operate heavy and delicate equipment, and mental skills to read and comprehend patient orders and technical materials.

Physical Requirements:

This role requires moderate to heavy physical efforts in lifting and moving patients, equipment, and supplies up to 600 pounds with assistance. Work requires walking, standing, reaching, stooping, bending, pushing, pulling, and lifting during normal operation.
