About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Bistro Barista to join our team at Broadmead, a leading continuing care retirement community in Maryland. As a Bistro Barista, you will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service and preparing high-quality beverages and food items for our residents and guests.

Key Responsibilities
  • Welcome and greet customers, determining their needs and interests
  • Explain and educate customers about different coffee products, brewing equipment, and food offerings
  • Maintain the appearance of the Corner Cupboard, restocking shelves, cleaning, sweeping, dusting, and mopping as needed
  • Responsible for the rotation of stock and the removal of all outdated products
  • Assist with pricing of products, including bar coding
  • Serve prepared foods, slice vegetables, fruits, meats, or desserts for use in food service
  • Set up and restock product displays
  • Take customer orders and convey to other employees for preparation
  • Maintain required records and receipts, ensuring proper handling of all cash
  • Follow all safety and sanitation rules and regulations
  • Responsible for stocking using the FIFO procedure
  • Responsible for properly taking and recording temperatures
Requirements
  • 6 months experience as a Barista (preferred, not required)
  • Effective communication skills, compatible with all levels of customers
  • Ability to be flexible and adapt quickly to change
  • Maintain a good rapport with customers during all events
  • General knowledge of sanitation, safety, and proper food handling procedures
  • General knowledge of weights & measures
  • Ability to follow instructions, work well with others, and maintain a good rapport with residents, staff, and guests
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to multitask while taking orders
  • Detailed oriented
  • Ability to work independently, given proper training and direction
