Job Title: Director of Social Services

BronxWorks is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Director of Social Services to join our team. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for overseeing the development and implementation of social services programs that promote the well-being of individuals and families in the Bronx.

Responsibilities:
  • Recruit, train, and supervise direct service staff to ensure the delivery of high-quality social services.
  • Maintain knowledge of social services and resources available in the community, including mental health services, medical care, and housing assistance.
  • Drive agency vehicles to conduct field visits and supervise staff.
  • Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and coordinate caseloads for contracted psychiatric services.
  • Provide short-term therapeutic counseling and crisis intervention, as well as support safety planning and risk assessments.
  • Monitor program progress and ensure programs meet contractual goals and funding requirements.
  • Work with the Program Director and fiscal department to plan and manage budgets and expenses.
Qualifications:
  • Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) or equivalent.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Knowledge and experience working with diverse and trauma-impacted communities.
  • Minimum of two years' experience in social services, with prior experience working with homeless populations preferred.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, as well as detail-oriented and resourceful with strong time management and organizational skills.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to use a computer for prolonged periods.
  • Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
  • Ability to stand, walk, or sit for long periods of time.
  • Ability to bend and retrieve objects and/or documents.
  • Ability to travel in the boroughs of New York City and its adjacent counties via public transportation.
