Job Overview

Cancer Specialists of North Florida is seeking a dedicated Pharmacy Trainee to join our dynamic Specialty Practice. Under the guidance and final approval of a licensed Pharmacist, the Pharmacy Trainee will play a crucial role in the preparation and distribution of medications in accordance with established professional standards and practices.

This position entails maintaining accurate records for prescriptions, patient billing, and inventory management. The Pharmacy Trainee will also collaborate with nursing and medical personnel regarding medication orders, manage drug procurement, and address any patient-related issues, including reactions and complaints. Furthermore, the intern will adhere to quality assurance and safety protocols while ensuring compliance with all relevant legal and accreditation standards.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist in the preparation and dispensing of medication orders under the supervision of a Pharmacist, with final verification conducted by the Pharmacist.
  • Receive and process new prescriptions or modifications to existing medication orders.
  • Interpret medication orders for therapeutic appropriateness under the guidance of a Pharmacist.
  • Calculate accurate medication dosages, converting between metric and apothecary systems under Pharmacist supervision.
  • Participate in prospective drug utilization reviews under the supervision of a Pharmacist.
  • Monitor prescription usage and engage in patient counseling as directed by a Pharmacist.
  • Provide pharmacological information and respond to inquiries from healthcare professionals and patients.
  • Contribute to pharmacy education and service initiatives for medical staff.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent.

Licenses and Certifications:

  • Current pharmacy intern license in the state of practice.

Compensation:

  • Salary commensurate with experience and qualifications.
