Senior Counsel

Oglethorpe Power Corporation, a leading electric generation cooperative, is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Counsel to join its small but well-integrated legal department. As a Senior Counsel, you will play a critical role in providing legal counsel to the corporation's senior leadership and clients across multiple departments.

• Structuring, drafting, negotiating, and interpreting complex procurement and construction agreements
• Providing counsel on corporate structure, authority, policy, and governance matters
• Supporting and supervising outside counsel advising the corporation on specialized regulatory compliance matters
• Advising on a range of legal matters related to plant operations, including dispute resolution
• Helping to establish and maintain legal templates and processes and negotiating vendor requests for deviations from those standard templates

• College degree and Juris Doctor degree
• 4+ years of experience with a minimum of 3 years in a medium to large law firm setting
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to think strategically and demonstrate sound legal and business judgment
• Experience drafting and negotiating a broad range of commercial agreements
• Ability to work independently and collaborate with other legal counsel inside and outside the organization

Oglethorpe Power Corporation is an in-person work environment that offers remote work one day per week. Travel is limited, less than one time per month, and limited to within the State of Georgia.
