The 5 West unit specializes in a diverse range of patient care, including Heart Monitoring, Observation, General Medical/Surgical, Oncology/Chemotherapy, Medical Psychiatry, and Palliative/Hospice. Each patient type presents unique care requirements.
Our 39-bed unit is dedicated to creating individualized care plans aimed at helping patients return to their pre-hospitalization state or as close as possible.
As part of a collaborative medical team, you will engage in discussions focused on the best outcomes for our patients. Our RN-to-patient ratio is 1:5 or 1:6, depending on patient acuity.

Specialized Equipment:
Our unit is equipped with Wound Vac, PCA Pumps, and Specialty Beds. The fast-paced setting involves high patient turnover, wound care, and the management of psychiatric patients requiring medical oversight.

Our joint replacement program features innovative minimally invasive knee and hip surgeries, attracting patients nationwide.
With over 21 outpatient care sites and ambulatory surgery centers across Wayne and Oakland Counties, Sinai-Grace is recognized as one of only 10 hospitals in the country to receive a Robert Wood Johnson Foundation grant aimed at establishing national standards for cardiac care.
Position Overview:
The Registered Nurse (RN) at DMC is an integral member of the Patient Care Services Team, responsible for ensuring the effective delivery of nursing care by the nursing staff.
The RN oversees and administers patient care activities for a designated group of patients and their families, utilizing independent judgment, effective communication, and collaboration with all team members, including ancillary and support services.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with physicians and other healthcare providers.
2. Delegate, assess, provide, and evaluate patient care.
3. Supervise and delegate patient care activities to team members.
4. Monitor patient progress and prepare patients for discharge.
5. Report directly to senior unit management and engage in shared decision-making processes.
Qualifications:
1. Graduation from an accredited nursing program is required.
2. A Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is preferred.
3. Must hold a valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Michigan.
4. Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association is required.
