Job SummaryWe're seeking a skilled Patient Service Representative to join our team. As a key member of our healthcare operations team, you'll be responsible for providing exceptional patient care and administrative support.
Key Responsibilities- Greet patients and families, schedule appointments, and ensure timely follow-up on hospital and ambulatory admissions/procedures.
- Answer phone calls promptly and efficiently, directing calls to the appropriate individual and taking accurate messages.
- Schedule future appointments, tests, and referrals as ordered by physicians.
- Maintain communication resources, including on-call schedules, MD phone numbers, and beeper numbers.
- Prepare charts for new patients, ensuring all required forms are accurately placed.
- Request medical records and perform chart preparation to provide physicians with necessary information.
- Reconcile encounters daily according to policy and guidelines.
- Monitor supply inventory, complete requisitions for supplies, forms, equipment, or services.
- Perform various clerical duties, including faxing, photocopying, filing, and mailings.
- Obtain, verify, and update patient information, maintaining confidentiality according to policies.
- Accurately complete necessary forms for patients.
- Respect patient rights by knocking on doors, calling patients by name, and identifying yourself before entering patient rooms.
- Establish and maintain positive working relationships with physicians and nursing staff.
- Protect patient and employee confidentiality.
- Communicate any problems, equipment concerns, or issues promptly to the Nurse Manager.
- High School Graduate or GED required; Associate Degree preferred.
- Heartsaver certification within 30 days of hire.
- Previous PSR experience and office experience preferred.
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Accurate computer data entry skills.
- Ability to organize and perform multiple tasks in a timely manner.
- Knowledge of medical office terminology and basic proficiency in computer use.
- Previous experience with EHR, Practice Management System, and Departmental/Ancillary Systems preferred.
We offer a competitive compensation package, including a pay range of $18/hour to $22/hour, and a comprehensive benefits program, including medical, dental, life, disability, vision, FSA coverages, and a 401k savings plan.
