This position is responsible for providing support to certified teachers in implementing instructional practices, transitional activities, and maintaining a safe and supportive instructional environment for special education students.
Key Responsibilities- Implement strategies and procedures developed by teachers to maintain safe, supportive, and inclusive learning environments.
- Assist teachers and related service professionals in carrying out health-related procedures required by students with special needs.
- Keep student data current and report concerns to teachers when they arise.
- Implement teacher-developed plans or strategies that enhance the fluency, maintenance, and generalization of academic skills.
- Assist teachers with community-based instruction and provide support to students in non-academic learning environments.
- Monitor and assist students in maintaining regular attendance and report absences to teachers and the district.
- Perform other duties as assigned by teachers and administrators.
- Minimum 48 college credit hours or successful completion of the Kentucky Paraeducator Assessment or completion of an Associate's Degree and experience working with youth in an organized setting.
- Knowledge of basic subjects taught in District Schools, including arithmetic, grammar, spelling, language, and reading.
- Ability to learn procedures, functions, and limitations of assigned duties and communicate effectively with others.
- Work is performed while standing, sitting, and/or walking.
- Requires the ability to communicate effectively using speech, vision, and hearing.
- Requires the use of hands for simple grasping and fine manipulations.
- Requires bending, squatting, crawling, climbing, reaching, running.
- Must be able to lift one-third of their body weight, not to exceed 50 pounds.
