Job Summary

The Food Bank of Eastern Michigan is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Development Associate to support the development team in achieving its fundraising goals. This is a seasonal clerical position that ends after the holiday season.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare, record, and process donations into the donor tracking system.
  • Assist with maintaining accurate and current records and logistics for food drives, third-party events, and community engagement activities.
  • Promote virtual food drives and provide technical support to community groups and organizations to maximize crowdfunding pages as a source of viable revenue.
  • Ensure timely recognition is provided to all donors, volunteers, and community groups engaged in development activities.
  • Support the Development Department in the planning and execution of all fundraising and organizational events.
  • Support the Director of Development by working with other departments to collect accurate data and conducting prospect research.
  • Support marketing objectives with updates to the website, email blasts, and social networking as assigned.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Previous work experience with data entry preferred.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office, donor databases, and desktop publishing software.
  • High level of organization skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must maintain confidentiality.
  • Must be innovative, positive, and enthusiastic.
  • Must have a sense of mission and be dedicated to hunger-relief.
  • Detail oriented.
Working Conditions

Work is performed in an office environment for day-to-day operations, with desk work and computer usage to organize and execute development activities. Some activities may be more physical in nature, such as event set-up requiring standing for long periods, walking, bending, and stooping. Work hours in development can vary in relation to events, food drives, dinners, and outside activities throughout the community and will involve evenings and weekends.
