Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure compliance with the corporate safety program.
- Promote collaboration among team members.
- Oversee the sale of commodities to maximize profitability.
- Facilitate adequate training for mechanics and preventative maintenance personnel.
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory agencies and statutes.
- Manage inventory control and maintenance of equipment.
- Guide and assist mechanics in diagnosing and repairing vehicles and equipment.
- Schedule and assign tasks to mechanics and maintenance shop personnel.
- Coordinate transportation of vehicles for external repairs as necessary.
- Conduct vehicle tests to troubleshoot issues and verify repairs.
- Prepare purchase orders and research optimal pricing for parts and repairs.
- Respond to emergency road calls for truck repairs.
- Maintain regular communication with the Region Maintenance Manager.
- Assist in monthly financial forecasting and annual budgeting.
- Ensure departmental costs remain within budgetary constraints.
Essential Qualifications:
- Proven ability to plan, budget, schedule, and supervise multiple projects from inception to completion.
- In-depth knowledge of DOT compliance requirements.
- Ability to inspire and motivate staff to achieve corporate, regional, and district objectives.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills with a focus on cost-effective solutions.
Requirements:
- Minimum of 5 years of maintenance experience in truck, light, or heavy equipment maintenance and repair; experience in the waste industry is preferred.
- Proven ability to train and motivate staff.
- Familiarity with air brake, hydraulic, and electrical systems.
- Trade or Technical School Certificate preferred; High School diploma or equivalent required.
- Must hold or be able to obtain a CDL within 90 days of starting.
- Proficient in vehicle and equipment diagnosis and repair.
