Elementary Art Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Elementary Art Specialist to join our team at New Albany-Floyd County Consolidated School District.

The Elementary Art Specialist will be responsible for supervising students, teaching and executing the NAFCS approved Art programs, and maintaining a variety of visual displays throughout the school. This role will also involve implementing and instructing provided monthly artist lessons, participating in the Library Spring Art Show, and communicating with administration about potential extracurricular art shows.

• Supervise students and ensure their safety and well-being.
• Teach and execute the NAFCS approved Art programs, including maintaining word walls, artist spotlights, ICAN, bulletin boards, and student spotlight walls.
• Implement and instruct provided monthly artist lessons in a timely manner to ensure cohesiveness in all elementary schools.
• Participate in the Library Spring Art Show by submitting art to the Teacher Leader.
• Communicate with administration about the possibility of one extracurricular art show in which you may be compensated for extra fifteen hours of time to prepare and implement.
• Ensure the subfolder including all necessary materials, including lesson plans, is up to date and easy to find.
• Perform other related duties as assigned by the administration and/or other designee.

• Associate's degree or two years of college credit or completion of 1,000 hours in the past year as a paraprofessional or successful completion of the Para-Pro Assessment Test.
• Substitute Permit - must apply and obtain a substitute permit through the Indiana Department of Education Licensing.
• Basic computer skills, familiarity with email systems, and ability to learn systems such as smart boards, document cameras, projection systems, sound systems, and digital technology.

This role requires frequent sitting and reaching with hands and arms. Occasional standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling may be required. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.
