Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and dedicated individual to fill the role of Contractual Non-Sworn Police Cadet. As a member of our team, you will have the opportunity to develop your skills and knowledge in a professional and supportive environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Attend and successfully complete all scheduled classes, lectures, demonstrations, and exercises at the Indian River State College Police Academy.
  • Train on-the-job by performing routine work assignments in the functional area for which training is prescribed.
  • Perform other duties of similar nature or level in a classroom setting.
  • Do not engage in any disciplinary activities while attending the approved Law Enforcement Academy.
  • Satisfy all qualifications and requirements for employment by the City as a Police Officer.
  • Take and pass the State Certification Exam within thirty (30) days of completion of the Police Academy program or within the prescribed timeframe as determined at the discretion of the Division Captain.
Requirements
  • Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma.
  • Actively pursuing acceptance into a Criminal Justice Standards and Training Commission (CJSTC) Law Enforcement Academy.
  • Possession of a valid Florida Driver's License and maintenance of a clean driving record.
  • Florida Law Enforcement Certification preferred and required to be obtained after graduation from Police Academy.
