Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled professional to oversee the Fresh Produce Division at Piggly Wiggly. As the Produce Manager, your primary responsibility will be to manage pricing strategies and enhance the visibility of the produce section to attract customers. You will also cultivate relationships with suppliers to expand our product offerings.

An effective Produce Manager should possess a deep understanding of customer preferences and the retail landscape. A strong business acumen and a thorough grasp of marketing and sales strategies are essential. Outstanding communication abilities are also crucial for success in this role.

The objective is to boost sales and profitability, fostering sustainable growth for the business.

Key responsibilities for this role include:

  • Delivering exceptional customer service
  • Recruiting and training new team members
  • Overseeing direct reports in alignment with company policies
  • Implementing strategic planning to set departmental goals
  • Evaluating staff performance through regular reviews
  • Developing departmental policies and procedures
  • Managing financial and budgetary activities for optimal operational efficiency
  • Analyzing performance metrics (financial, sales, and activity reports) to assess productivity and achieve departmental objectives

Requirements:

  • Ability to handle equipment safely and efficiently (slicers, heated wrapping stations, knives, etc.)
  • Capability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds
