Patient Care Responsibilities:

* Conducts essential patient care tasks within designated units under the guidance of a Registered Nurse.

* Aids in the implementation of patient care plans by assisting with daily living activities, such as personal hygiene, mobility, and comfort measures.

* Efficiently coordinates daily patient care activities on the nursing unit.

* Supports nursing staff in facilitating patient admissions, discharges, and transfers.

* Executes various duties as assigned by nursing personnel to support the unit.

* Responds to patient requests and alerts appropriate personnel when necessary.

* Assists patients in fulfilling their nutritional needs, including aiding with feeding and providing fluids and supplements.

Inventory Management:

* Responsible for ordering, stocking, and replenishing unit supplies and equipment in a cost-effective manner.

* Engages in identifying financial responsibilities of the unit during budget preparation.

* Aids in maintaining the unit within budgetary constraints.

Communication Duties:

* Facilitates communication within the unit, including managing telephones, intercom systems, and call light systems, while relaying information appropriately.

* Communicates patient information, concerns, or issues to relevant interdisciplinary team members.

* Directs communication among visitors, staff, and physicians within the assigned unit.

Customer Service Excellence:

* Greets visitors to the unit, answering questions, providing directions, and referring inquiries to nursing staff as needed.

* Manages telephone inquiries and directs calls to the appropriate department or staff member.

* Maintains a polite and friendly demeanor in all interactions, whether in person or over the phone.

* Ensures a safe and clean environment for patients and healthcare teams.

Documentation Responsibilities:

* Accurately documents care provided using worksheets and/or electronic medical records.

Regulatory Compliance:

* Adheres to professional standards, behavioral expectations, and hospital policies as established by the organization.

* Complies with applicable local, state, and federal regulations and guidelines.

* Maintains confidentiality by safeguarding personal healthcare information of all patients.

Qualifications:

* High School Diploma or equivalent is required.

* A minimum of one year of recent nursing assistant experience is necessary.

* Availability for 72-80 hours of work in each biweekly schedule is required, within the identified hours of the Resource Pool needs.

* Must be competent and willing to work in multiple inpatient units.

* Certification is preferred but not mandatory.

* Must obtain and maintain CPR certification as required by the unit and Continuing Education.

* Must meet and maintain educational requirements upon hire and annually as determined by the unit and Continuing Education Department.

* Basic computer knowledge is preferred.

* Must possess the ability to read and write.

* Utilizes and maintains equipment on the nursing unit.

* Must be able to recognize changes and abnormalities in patient conditions and report to appropriate staff.
