The Desert Research Institute's Organic Analytical Laboratory is seeking a Student Worker - Laboratory Assistant to provide field and laboratory support for a study on household health adaptation to extreme heat and wildfire smoke in Washoe County, Nevada. The successful candidate will work under the supervision of the research team to maintain field equipment, collect data from participant homes, and analyze results.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintaining field equipment and ensuring it is in good working order.
- Visiting participants' homes to collect physical and mental health data.
- Analyzing collected data to draw conclusions and inform future research directions.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with spirometer, EKG monitor, and pulse-oximeter.
- Experience with participant survey tools.
Compensation
$17.20 per hour, no benefits. Up to 20 hours a week, Monday through Friday, 9am to 5pm. Physical demands include standing, reaching, lifting, carrying, and moving up to 35 pounds.
