Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Pediatric and Geriatric Phlebotomist to join our team at IT People Corporation.

About the Role:

  • This is an excellent opportunity to work in a fast-paced laboratory setting, collecting blood samples from pediatric and geriatric patients.
  • You will be responsible for performing venipunctures, labeling specimens, centrifuging samples, and recording maintenance data.
  • In addition, you will update patient information, collect and store specimens according to established procedures, and explain the process of blood drawing to patients in a clear and courteous manner.

Responsibilities:

  • Collect blood samples from pediatric and geriatric patients using straight needles and/or butterfly needles.
  • Properly label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test order.
  • Check all test requisitions or computer labels against scripts to ensure 100% accuracy.
  • Package specimens for transport and store them according to required temperature.
  • Understand and comply with OSHA and DEP regulations.
  • Attend annual department trainings and answer telephone calls, reading laboratory results to satisfy inquiries.

Requirements:

  • A minimum of 2+ years of experience in pediatrics and geriatrics.
  • Data entry experience is also required.
  • A minimum of 2 years of work experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced laboratory or hospital setting.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and a High School Diploma or GED are also necessary.
  • Must pass a color vision test and have flexibility to work one of the following shifts: 7:45am-4:45pm or 8:00am-5:00pm.

Compensation:

$48,000 - $60,000 per year, depending on experience.
