Yellow Iron Mechanic

Job Summary:

As a Yellow Iron Mechanic at Interstate Waste Services, you will be responsible for performing inspection, diagnosis, and repair of electrical, hydraulic, suspension, brake, and air systems on vehicles and equipment, primarily including yellow iron machinery, diesel heavy trucks, and engines. You will work independently and as part of a team to maintain a high level of equipment reliability and safety.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform routine maintenance and repairs on heavy equipment, including yellow iron machinery, diesel heavy trucks, and engines.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical problems on heavy equipment, including electrical, hydraulic, suspension, brake, and air systems.
• Operate heavy equipment being repaired, as necessary.
• Maintain a clean and safe work area, adhering to Company safety protocols and OSHA standards.
• Collaborate with other technicians to complete projects and achieve team goals.
• Assist Sr. Technicians in the completion of project work.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

• At least 5 years of experience in job duties.
• Sanitation or construction industry experience a plus.
• Computer diagnostic experience as diesel technician a plus.
• Experience with troubleshooting/repairing DPF systems diagnostic software such as Premium Tech Tool (Mack), Allison transmission, Cummins, CAT, Peterbilt, and Paccar.
• Working knowledge of applicable DOT and OSHA standards and regulations.
• Must be able to speak and read English well enough to converse with colleagues, drivers, and dispatch, and be able to make legible entries on reports and records.
• Must be able to meet the physical and safety requirements of the position.
• Must be able to provide own tools.

Salary Range:
USD $26.00/Hr. - USD $33.00/Hr.
