Key Responsibilities:
- Manage patient medical records in compliance with HIPAA and relevant regulations.
- Gather lab and imaging reports, coordinate referrals, and handle appointment scheduling. Ensure accurate verification of insurance and patient information.
- Prepare examination rooms and maintain cleanliness of instruments and equipment to uphold infection control standards.
- Facilitate patient flow by assisting with room transitions and collecting vital signs and medical histories.
- Respond to phone inquiries and provide necessary patient education as directed by healthcare providers.
- Perform basic clinical tasks including phlebotomy, EKGs, and assisting with medical procedures under supervision.
- Adhere to regulatory compliance and maintain confidentiality of patient information in accordance with UPMC policies.
- Administer medications and vaccines as directed by a physician.
Qualifications:
A high school diploma or equivalent is required. Candidates should possess basic computer skills and familiarity with medical terminology.
Certifications Required:
CPR certification in line with AHA standards is mandatory within the first month of employment.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
- Act 31 Child Abuse Reporting certification
- Act 33 clearance
- Act 34 clearance
- Act 73 FBI Clearance
