Fitzgibbon Hospital, a non-profit community healthcare facility, plays a crucial role in enhancing the health and wellness of the communities it serves in the Marshall, MO area. We are seeking a dedicated and empathetic Dietitian to be part of our Nutritional Services department.

Role Responsibilities:

The Dietitian is responsible for ensuring compliance with various Conditions of Participation, regulations, and standards set forth by relevant health authorities and licensing agencies. The role requires collaboration with patients, healthcare staff, physicians, consultants, vendors, and other service providers.
  • Exhibits clinical proficiency to attain quality-focused outcomes for Hospital Inpatient/Outpatient services, Behavioral Health Units, Skilled Nursing, Swing Bed, and Transitional Living Care.
  • Reviews and approves menus and nutritional supplements for patients.
  • Evaluates patients' nutritional health in accordance with established guidelines.
  • Conducts assessments as mandated by established protocols.
  • Gathers essential information from medical records to assess patients' nutritional health.
  • Creates nutritional care plans for patients across all age groups, including neonates, children, adolescents, seniors, and those with terminal conditions.
  • Tailors nutritional care plans to reflect the cultural backgrounds of patients.
  • Assesses the effectiveness of nutritional interventions on patients' health to determine if care plans need adjustments.
  • Collaborates with physicians to establish appropriate nutritional strategies.
  • Contributes to the development and implementation of patient nutrition care programs, ensuring program consistency.
  • Engages professionally with patients and their families, providing nutritional education and counseling to support healthier eating habits.
  • Ensures patient safety by performing all aspects of care in a manner that minimizes the risk of medical errors.
  • Provides information on food-drug interactions to physicians.
  • Maintains positive working relationships within the department and across other departments.
  • Adheres to current documentation standards and policies.
  • Facilitates in-service training for hospital staff and community members as requested.
  • Demonstrates flexibility, organization, and the ability to function effectively in high-pressure situations.
  • Works collaboratively with pharmacy, nursing, nutrition services, and other ancillary services to implement recommendations.
  • Partners with physicians to develop protocols and dietary plans for patients in need.
  • Participates in Utilization Review and Care Conferences for patients identified as at risk for suboptimal outcomes.
  • Exhibits expertise in teaching, communication, and collaboration within an interdisciplinary team to achieve optimal patient outcomes.
  • Maintains professionalism in all interactions.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.
Work Schedule:
  • Full-time (80 hours biweekly)
  • Shifts from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM with rotating weekends
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Nutrition and Dietetics
  • Missouri Licensure as a Registered Dietitian; 1-3 years of relevant experience.
  • Certification/Licensure Required: Completion of requirements to sit for the CDR Registry Exam
