Role Overview:
A prominent, multifaceted program in the Herndon area is in search of a Software Configuration Specialist (SCS) to adhere to fundamental Configuration Management principles. The selected candidate will establish and uphold the integrity of all digital products throughout their entire lifecycle. This role involves supporting the development team in delivering innovative solutions through automation, continuous enhancement, and standardized architecture. The individual will be part of a talented workforce providing support for all digital computing products, both legacy and emerging.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design, implement, and oversee Configuration Management processes and protocols.
  • Configuration Planning & Identification.
  • Change Management & Version Control.
  • Status Accounting & Configuration Audits.
  • Product Release Management.
  • Oversee digital product development libraries.
  • Document and maintain standards for dependency management, build processes, and versioning.
  • Administer SWCM tools and manage access to source code repositories.
  • Oversee devSecOps tools.
  • Facilitate the Digital Change Review Board (DCRB).
  • Maintain awareness of program schedules, identify risks, and align work to enhance reuse and efficiency.

Qualifications Required:
  • Bachelor's degree with 8 years of relevant experience, or 11 years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Proficiency with version control and change management tools.
  • Experience in Software Configuration Management technology, Information Technology (IT), or development.
  • Strong skills in JIRA, Confluence, and MS Office.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance; U.S. citizenship is required.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Typically requires a Bachelor's degree with 8 years of prior relevant experience, or an Advanced degree with 5 years of relevant experience, or 11 years of relevant experience in absence of a degree.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Aptitude for solving complex problems, sharing knowledge, and documenting work.
  • Experience with SWCM tools.
  • Familiarity with scripting languages (e.g., Perl, Kshell, batch, Python, Ruby, Jenkins, or Chef).
  • Understanding of Continuous Improvement, Continuous Integration, and Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) concepts.
  • Experience in database/SWCM tool administration.
  • Proven experience with configuration management principles and their implementation.
  • Familiarity with software industry best practices such as Capability Maturity Model Integrated (CMMI).
  • Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds and cultures.
