About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Lead Nurse to join our team as an Emergency Department Coordinator at the Detroit Medical Center.

Job Summary

The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating the provision of care through assigning and scheduling staff, prioritizing patient needs, and evaluating patient outcomes. This is a full-time position working 36 hours per week with a rotating shift schedule, including days and nights.

As a Clinical Coordinator, you will work closely with the interdisciplinary team to problem-solve system and unit-based issues, provide input into nursing staff performance appraisals, and participate in activities pertinent to the unit and hospital.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assume shift responsibilities for the care delivery team, ensuring adequate nurse-patient ratios on each shift.
  • Collaborate with the manager to monitor staffing levels and make adjustments as needed.
  • Facilitate shared decision-making among staff and improve unit throughput by streamlining processes.
  • Develop and deliver in-service programs to enhance staff competence in fulfilling job responsibilities.
  • Participate in the development of policies, procedures, and standards for the department.
Qualifications

To be considered for this role, you must possess an Associate Degree or Diploma in Nursing, with a valid license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of Michigan. A Bachelor's degree in Nursing is preferred. You should have at least one to two years of progressively more responsible experience in emergency nursing, with evidence of increasing leadership abilities.

A minimum Level 6 of the Promoting Excellence Performance Criteria is required for internal candidates. BLS certification is mandatory, while ACLS certification is preferred.

Compensation Package

The salary for this role is estimated to be around $85,000 to $110,000 per annum, based on your relevant experience and qualifications. In addition to your base salary, you can expect a range of benefits, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, and retirement plans.
