About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Arborist Crew Leader - Foreman to join our team at Lewis Tree Service. As a key member of our forestry operations team, you will be responsible for leading a tight-knit crew and creating a positive team environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead Crew and Promote a Positive Team Environment: Foster a culture of safety, respect, and open communication among crew members.
  • Interpret and Execute Work Orders: Interpret tree trimming, removal, and spraying orders initiated by General Foreman or customer representatives.
  • Plan and Layout Daily Work: Plan and layout daily work for your crew, considering time required to complete work, clean-up time, equipment availability, weather conditions, and customer permissions.
  • Perform Pre-Job Hazard Surveys: Conduct Pre-Job Hazard Surveys at each job site with all crew members and assign work tasks based on individual knowledge, skills, and abilities.
  • Perform Line Clearing and Tree Trimming Duties: Perform line clearing and tree trimming duties for Lewis Tree Service's utility customers, including pruning treetops and limbs, trimming or removal of at-risk/damaged trees, and removing broken limbs from wires, roofs, etc.
  • Climb Trees and Operate Aerial Lifts: Climb trees and operate a bucket for trimming and removals in and above power lines.
  • Prepare and Maintain Equipment: Prepare, operate, and maintain all tools and equipment, including hand tools, chainsaws, chippers, and aerial lifts.
  • Remove Debris and Safeguard Employees and the Public: Remove limbs and brush, clean up and dispose of debris, and safeguard employees and the public from hazards in and around the working area.
  • Mix and Apply Spray Chemicals: Mix and apply spray chemicals to preserve desirable vegetation.
Requirements
  • Experience: Two years or more experience working as a Trimmer/Climber, working around utility lines.
  • Leadership Skills: Ability to lead people, including strong communication skills.
  • Knowledge of Trees: Knowledge of trees, including identification, growth habits, and correct arboriculture techniques for trimming, pruning, repairing, maintaining, and removing trees, as applicable to working close to energized conductors.
  • Physical Abilities: Ability to perform physical labor, including lifting a minimum of 50 lbs. to shoulder height or more, and capable of operating two-handed equipment.
  • Specialized Training and Certifications: Willing and able to obtain specialized training and certifications, such as local, state, and federal licenses, First Aid and CPR cards, and pass a pre-employment drug test and job duty skills tests.
