Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Admissions Counselor to join our team at Acadia Healthcare. The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating the admission process for patients, ensuring a smooth transition into our care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Respond to inquiries about our facility in a timely and professional manner.
  • Develop therapeutic relationships with patients and families to ensure a positive experience.
  • Perform benefit eligibility checks to ensure patients have active benefits at the time of admission.
  • Collaborate with medical and psychiatric personnel to ensure accurate recommendations for patient care.
  • Coordinate admission and transfer processes between referral sources and within our facility.
  • Maintain knowledge of milieu management principles to ensure a safe and supportive environment.
  • Communicate projected admissions to internal representatives promptly.
  • Ensure all clinical information is received prior to patient admission, when possible.
  • Schedule and complete pre-admission assessments, consult with the admitting physician, and communicate disposition recommendations to patients or their families.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate medical record documentation to support authorization requests.
  • Complete initial pre-authorization for treatment and admission prior to admission, when possible.
  • Admit patients into our registration and accounting system, complete admission and consent forms, and demonstrate a positive and professional attitude towards customers.
Requirements
  • Masters degree in a social services field (psychology, counseling, social work, sociology, health administration, nursing) or RN required in Tennessee.
  • Three or more years' experience in mental/behavioral health working with individuals in a clinical or observational capacity preferred.
  • Experience in the managed care pre-certification process, level of care assessments, and utilization preferred.
Qualifications
  • Current licensure, as required for the area of clinical specialty, i.e., current RN license, CAC or other clinical counseling or therapy license, as designated by the state in which the facility operates.
  • CPR and de-escalation/restraint certification required (training available upon hire and offered by facility).
  • First aid may be required based on state or facility.
