Senior Die Maker Craftsman

The Role:
General Motors seeks skilled trades professionals to fill Die Maker Journeyperson positions. Working independently, these craftsmen are responsible for building, repairing, and maintaining dies using various materials.
Key Responsibilities:- Follow established safety procedures according to OSHA standards and company guidelines
- Fabricate and repair dies for production, including welding operations
- Read blueprints to perform die repair/fabrication
- Perform die repair using mills, lathes, grinders, and hand tools
- Make in-press repairs of dies/tooling
- Conduct die tryout duties as required
- Utilize measuring instruments such as calipers, gauge blocks, and micrometers to repair/fabricate dies
- Operate heavy equipment like hi-lo and overhead crane to transport dies and other machinery
- Document and record data for the department
Qualified candidates must have at least six (6) years of experience as a Die Maker or a U.S. Department of Labor Certificate of Completion in the Die Maker trade.
Candidates must also meet General Motors' hiring process requirements, which include comprehensive assessments, drug testing, and a background check.
Additional Requirements:
- At least 18 years of age
- Eligible to work in the United States
- Willingness to work flexible shift hours, day, afternoon, or night shifts, with overtime hours daily, weekends, and holidays
The estimated salary range for this position is $43,670 - $49,040 per year, depending on qualifications and experience.
General Motors offers a competitive compensation package, including an annual incentive payout, as well as benefits and relocation assistance.
Physical Demands:This role requires quick response to safety instructions, alarms, and signals, as well as the ability to work and stand for extended periods.
Candidates must be able to comfortably wear personal protective equipment and navigate a busy environment.
They may need to lift or carry materials weighing up to 50 pounds, depending on the department.
