Mailroom Technician

Job Summary

The Department of General Services at Loudoun County is seeking a highly skilled Mailroom Technician to join our team in the Management Support Services Division. As a Mailroom Technician, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our mailroom services.

Key Responsibilities:

• Accurately collect and sort UPS/FEDEX packages, USPS mail items, inter-departmental mail, packages, and other deliverables to County offices.
• Ensure mail is delivered on a timely basis consistent with established delivery schedules.
• Assist in operating mail-metering equipment and assist departments with certified mailing.
• Ensure appropriate department is charged correct postal rates.
• Develop courier staffing schedules and oversee the maintenance of the mail vehicles.
• Complete special projects as needed.
• Assist internal and external customers in a courteous, positive, and helpful manner at all times.

Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• One (1) year of experience in a mailroom or postal service environment with some accounting experience.
• Equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with accountability of materials in the form of prepaid postage and internal service funds.
• Experience with accounting/record-keeping.
• Experience with automated systems.
• Customer service experience.
• Considerable driving experience with an excellent and sustainable driving history.

Contingencies and Special Requirements:

• Valid driver's license and good driving record (driving records may be reviewed annually for continued qualification).
• Employment is contingent upon successful completion of criminal, credit, and DMV record background checks.
• This position requires the ability to lift up to sixty (60) pounds and work in all types of weather conditions.
• May be required to work beyond the scheduled workday.
