Job Title: Controls and Automation Engineer

T&M Associates is seeking a highly motivated Controls / Automation Engineer to join our Electrical & Automation team in any of our NJ offices.

This position offers a hybrid work arrangement, combining remote work with in-office collaboration.

The successful candidate will lead the execution of controls projects, including designing controls architecture, specifying instrumentation, programming PLCs / SCADA / HMIs, and commissioning and starting up processes.

Strong client interface skills are required.

Responsibilities:
  • Leading and supporting controls and communications designs for large municipal water and wastewater projects;
  • Industrial projects for fortune 500 companies, utility energy, and environmental, and transportation clients.
  • Design and specification of control panel power distribution, communications systems, grounding, and control architecture for PLC-base control systems.
  • Support the proposal process in the Department by developing Bill of Materials, coordinating with subcontractors, material suppliers, and panel builders, etc.
  • Performing PLC, SCADA, and HMI programming and screen development - using variety of hardware / software providers.
  • Ability to perform commissioning / startup of systems and training of operators, required.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's or Associates degree in Electrical or Electro-Mechanical Engineering required;
  • Licensed as a Professional Engineer, New Jersey preferred, with the ability to be licensed in multiple states;
  • Must have intermediate to advanced knowledge of automation / electrical engineering and design and be familiar with applicable codes, standards and acceptable industry practices;
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills required with the ability to prepare written specifications and contract documents;
  • 6-15 years of related work experience in industrial design and/or water / wastewater control systems;
  • Self-motivated, focused, and dedicated to leading a team to deliver solutions for our clients.
