This role is centered around providing assistance in a middle school classroom specifically designed for students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). The selected candidate will manage a reasonable caseload while benefiting from dedicated classroom support.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Instruct and assist upper elementary students within an ASD classroom, overseeing a caseload of 5 students.
  • Design and execute individualized education programs (IEPs) that cater to the distinct needs of each student.
  • Collaborate with two paraprofessionals assigned to the classroom to ensure thorough support for all students.
  • Establish and uphold a positive, structured, and engaging learning environment.
  • Evaluate and track student progress, adjusting teaching methods as necessary to meet educational objectives.
  • Engage with parents, school personnel, and other professionals to enhance student support.
  • Participate in IEP meetings and assist in the formulation of educational and behavioral strategies.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education or a related discipline.
  • Valid Texas Teaching Certification with a specialization in Special Education.
  • Experience with students diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is advantageous.
  • Excellent communication and organizational abilities, with a capacity to work collaboratively with students, staff, and parents.
  • Proficient in working alongside classroom paraprofessionals to foster a supportive educational atmosphere.
