Job Title: Director of Purchasing

Jobot is seeking a seasoned Director of Purchasing to lead our purchasing team and drive strategic sourcing initiatives.

About the Role:

We are a fast-growing food manufacturer in the DC metro area, and we need a dynamic and experienced leader to manage our purchasing activities. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing purchasing strategies, managing the procurement process, and building strong relationships with vendors.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement purchasing strategies to ensure timely and cost-effective supply of dairy products.
  • Manage the procurement process for dairy products, ensuring quality standards are maintained.
  • Create and oversee the RFQ process, ensuring efficiency and transparency.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with vendors, negotiating contracts to achieve the best possible terms.
  • Oversee sourcing initiatives, identifying potential new suppliers and assessing their suitability.
  • Manage and monitor contracts, ensuring compliance and addressing any issues that arise.
  • Work closely with other departments to forecast demand and plan purchasing activities.
  • Stay up-to-date with market trends and changes in the dairy industry, adjusting purchasing strategies as necessary.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Supply Chain Management, or related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in a purchasing role within the manufacturing industry.
  • Proven experience managing RFQ processes and negotiating contracts.
  • Strong vendor management skills, with a track record of building and maintaining positive relationships.
  • Excellent sourcing skills, with the ability to identify and assess potential suppliers.
  • Deep understanding of the dairy industry is preferred.
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate others.
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to make informed decisions based on data.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
